MUA Going For Gold Palette: Reviews and Statches

Hello Everyone,
Happy Thursday :)

You wont believe how lazy I have become this days!! So lazy that I keep on delaying blogging!!Argg me and my laziness!! I have so much tardiness issues and this always brings trouble for me..yikes!!!

So back to the Beginning...Today I am going to talk about one of the First Palettes I got myself from the very famous brand this days..Makeup Academy(MUA). This brand mainly based on UK and well known for its cheaper but good quality makeup. MUA cosmetics mainly based on website, and sometimes available on various drugstores.

MUA has a lot of neutral and colorful palettes, but among all those beautiful much talked ones, I chose to go with this Limited Edition palette " Going For Gold" eyeshadow palette. Well there is a reason behind choosing it. I do have decent colors on my collection, but I wanted some decent gold and silver shades. I have been eyeing this palette from the moment it released and finally grabbed it a month back.

Availability: I bought mine from a FB Page or you can find it in  www.muastore.uk
Price: 4pounds ( around 600 Bdt)

What MUA says:
To celebrate the much anticipated 2012 London Olympics, MUA has introduced the champion of all make-up palettes, a limited edition Going for Gold Palette!
Made up of 10 fabulously shimmering eyeshadow shades in the new square pans, MUA urges you to get in the winning mood and go über glamorous to cheer on your team. Whether you’re going for a subtle highlighting effect or attention-grabbing statement eyes, you will be sure to dazzle with the Olympians.

My take on the Product:

Starting with the packaging..the palette comes in a plastic black case with a transparent lid to see the shades. I must say, the packaging looks cheap but not to the touch. For the price, the case is sturdy enough and the clasp has strong snap. At the back, there is a small introduction and details of the shades. The shades have no names but numbers and brief illustrations on how o apply certain shades. As a whole, I liked the packaging.

This palette contains different shades of golden, silver and bronzed shades. Some are matte and some are shimmery.

As from the swatches above, some shades are impressively pigmented. The top two shades and the bottom first shades are matte and as you can see they have decent pigmentation. All the other shades are all shimmery and they all are beautiful colors to work with. My favorites are the bottom last two shades~ the bronzed and silver shades.

The only complain I have is with the top fourth silver shade, which is more on the glittery side and hardly has any color. This is suppose to be a good highlight but the only thing that remains on the lids are the glitters, so its a no-no for me!! I thought the golden shades will be mind blowing, but they are not so much only one or two goldenish shade really impressed me actually.
But overall, I am very happy with the color range and the variation.

As for quality, it is pretty good actually. The shades are soft to the touch, glides on beautifully on the lids and the payoff of color is also very good. And what more do I need, when it looks so good on the pictures :)

Pros:
  • Beautiful Colors
  • Good Pigmentation
  • Variety of colors: Matt and Shimmer
  • Soft to touch
  • Glides on the lids beautifully
  • Good Packaging
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Not available locally
  • Limited only to golden and silver shades.
  • Some shimmery shades are hard to work with
  •  Some shades lack in pigmentation
Final Verdict: I have enjoyed working with the shades even though some shades are not that workable. But I do like this palette and happy that now I have some decent golden and silver shades I can play with :).

Do I suggest this? Oh yes, definitely. It is a wonderful palette but limited to only two colors. So if you want some bundle of gold and silver shades then you should try this.

I hope you all liked my post. Thank You :D
