Look Book: Basic Smoky Eyes and FOTD

Hello Everyone,

Till now, I have posted different looks but did not do any step to step eyeshadow look. While reviewing about the ELF essential eyeshadow, I came up with an idea- how about I create a look with this palette and show you the step to step on how i did it?? And ,I opted for the most basic use of the palette- Smoky Eyes.

I am going to use ELF $1 eyeshadow in Drama
Lets start with the look~

Step 1: At first, fill the eyebrows with a brow pencil or eyebrow wax. Then prime the lids.

Step 2: Apply on the 2/3 of the lid with the dark silver shade(1), with a flat brush.

Step 3: Take the black shade(2) on the opposite side of the brush, and apply on the rest 1/3 of the lid.

Step 4: Take the silver shade(3) on the blending brush and apply on the crease line, highlighting the area.

Step 5: Then take a little bit of the black shade on the blending brush, and start blending from the outer corner toward the crease line, blending to give a smooth effect.

Step 5: Apply the powdery white eyeshadow(4) on the tear duct and on the brow bone for highlighting the areas.

Step 6: Take a little bit of the black shade and apply under the water lines for more smoky effect.

Step 8: Take a black kohl and apply on the water lines. Then take a White/flesh toned pencil, and apply on the waterlines as well to open up the eyes.

Step 9: Curl the lashes and apply 2 coats of mascara and the look is done!!:D

This can be an everyday smoky eye look, with minimal effort. All you need is a flat and a blending brush.

ELF $1 Eyeshadow in Drama: Review and Swatches.

Hello Everyone...

Did I ever mention about ELF products?? This brand, stands for Eyes Lips Face, is a famous for delivering low price, good quality products. It is mainly sold online and available in many countries but mostly operates from UK. With its innumerable products from eye shadows to brushes to customized pans, the brand has been able to capture many hearts with both the decent quality and the cheap prices  that range from $1-8.

Today I am going to review about ELF's $ 1 eyeshadow in Drama. This has been a raved product among many you tube gurus and a best seller on the ELF site. I have heard so much about it, and with a price tag of only $ 1( 200bdt), I decided to give it a try.

About the product:

Luxuriously smooth, pigmented formula provides your eyes with a bright and beautiful sweep of rich color. The formula blends into skin for a long lasting, beautiful effect. Each quad is comprised of 4 coordinating shades that allow for both natural and dramatic looks. Built-in mirror and applicator included.
My thought on the product:
This  is an ideal palette for the new makeup learners. With a fraction of price, there are four shades~ a plane powdery white shade, a glittery silver shade, a black and a glittery silver shades. In simple words, the palette screams basic smoky eyes.

The packaging looks cheap with plastic transparent cover, but comparing to price, the packaging is quite good.  The shades come in four triangular shaped tin attached to the surface of the palette. It also comes with an eyeshadow wind a small mirror, both are quite useless!

The quality is also decent compared to price. The white shade is very powdery to touch but as a highlight it works very good. The dark silver shade sort of looks like black on the pan, but when looked carefully and swatches,  it gives a dark silver shade with a lot of glitter on it. The black shade is pretty decent black but not the darkest black that I like. Finally the fourth is, almost transparent, glittery silver shade, which hardly shows on the lids nor when swatches except a line of pure glitters. All these shades have fall outs which is very disappointing at times.

Pros:
  • All in one smoky eye kit for the beginners.
  • The colors are synchronized well.
  • Color payoff is pretty decent.
  • Affordable price.
  • Small in size therefore, easy for travel.
Cons:
  • Not available in Bangladesh therefore has to buy this products through other outsourcing pages who sell.
  • The shades are mostly glittery with only one matte shade.
  • The shades have fall out like crazy and the glitters spread all over the eyelids.
  • The darkest color on the pan are not as dark as I have hoped for.
 Rating:
Overall, I believe this eyeshadow palette is a good and easy way of getting a quick smoky eyes and for the price, I think it is a must have!! Do I recommend it?? Yes off course I do. This is one of those cost effective palattes that saves you when you have no time but want to look classic and smoky...:D

Review: Clinique 3 Step Skin Care Solution

Hello Everyone...
Happy Saturday..:)

I have been wanting to try out some Clinique skin care for a long time. But with the price tag and the mixed reviews, I always find myself in dilemma to buy the full sizes. I had my eyes on the 3 step skin care solutions. Luck favored my wish, and a face book page carried a sample size of the 3 step solution. I was so in ecstasy especially to try out the ever raved moisturizing lotion.

What Clinique says:

The 3 Step Skin Care helps " Create the cleanest, healthiest version of your skin and Just 3 products, 3 minutes twice a day".

 The 3 steps are~

  • Step1: Cleanse - Non-drying formulas leaving skin feeling fresh, clean and comfortable
  • Step 2 : Exfoliate - Sweeps away pollution, excess oil, dulling flakes to reveal fresher skin.
  • Step 3 : Moisturize - Gives skin the "Drink" it needs to maintain optimum moisture balance.
This skin care is available for very dry to dry skin, dry combination skin, combination/oily skin and oily skin types.

My thought on the product:

      1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild

The first step is the liquid soap or face wash. It comes in a green tube with a screw able lid, which is very hygienic to use. The product is transparent with a gel like texture. It gives out a good amount of foaminess and leaves the skin clean and fresh like a regular face wash. There is nothing extra ordinary about this product, just an everyday face cleaning product. But there is a but in there- I felt my skin drying after using the product ( my skin is combination and the product says dry combination). I felt the face work is cleaning my face, but at the same time it is kind of harsh, stripping away moisture as it cleanse. It may clean away simple makeup like face powder but it is not good to clean heavy makeup.

    2.  Clinique Clarifying Lotion

It is named to be Clarifying lotion,in simple words It is a toner basically an alcoholic toner. Toner helps to remove away dirt and other impurities or makeup from the face after washing the face. I am fascinated by the work a toner does, but this product just disappointed me very much. On the first day of use, i didn't like the alcoholic smell, but loved the refreshing, tingling feeling it gave after using the product and it was very soothing too. The effect stayed for 5 minutes and I realized my face looks more cleaner and healthy. But after couple of use, the tingliness became uncomfortable- I felt my face is burning and I could even see some zits popping up. The alcoholic based toner didn't work out for me sadly even though I liked it at the beginning.

   3. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion

I have heard so much about this product. All my favorite you tube gurus and many others said this lotion is a must try. I even checked the full sized of this lotion, but i wasn't sure whether this will suit me or not. The sample comes in a cute little bottle with decent amount for try out version. It is a yellow based lotion, very creamy to the touch, slightly runny in texture, with a weird medical smell to it. I didn't like the smell at all, but the lotion is just awesome, so I try ignore it.. The first time I tried it, I felt silky smooth, moisturized skin. This is a little heavy for day time use, especially for me but ideal for night time. According to me, this will work as a very good night cream. I found this moisturizer didn't react on me.

Overall, among the three products, I liked the Dramatically Different Lotion the most. The face wash is fine but the clarifying lotion/toner..not much of a fan anymore!! As a whole, the 3 step solution didn't impress as much as I hoped for. It have worked for many but maybe I did not pick the right skin type step solution or the products didn't suit my skin type.

I hope you all liked the post. For any enqueries or feedback you can contact me on my face book page Lippaholic Indeed.

Home Spa~ Hair treatment

Hello Everyone..:D

In this scorching hot weather, keeping the hairs healthy is a very tough job. Even after a day of shampoo, hair becomes so oily and greasy. I have oil massages at home during the weekends. But from last year, I started to experience massive hair fall issue. I was like "aaaaaaaaa I AM GETTING BALD!!!" I love my hair so much that I have never straightened or colored my hair. I was freaking out, looking at products or home made solutions. I wanted something natural..something that can make my roots strong. I knew the answers~ decided to try out the traditional formula with a new touch:).

Today I am going to share my way hair treatment at home and an effective one too.

My Way:

Hot Oil Massage: Oiling the hairs is very important to keep them nourished and shiny.

I take a silver bowl and pour required amount of Coconut Oil, Olive oil and one E gel Vitamin E Capsule. Mix them with a spoon and heat them very little, just enough to warm up the oils but be careful not to burn the oils.

Egg Mask: Take one egg and beat.

Now, apply the oils on the scalp, massaging as you apply. Let your hair soak the oils. Then apply the beaten eggs evenly on the scalp evenly as well as the strands. Then wrap your hairs in a bun and cover in a shower cap or a plastic bag like me:D

Keep this mask for around 30-45 minutes and then shampoo at least 2 times to let go of the smell and off course use a conditioner.
Be aware~ your bathroom may smell gross but the hair feels so soft and shiny and strong afterwards. Every time I do this, I feel so good about my hair. This method may be a little time consuming but doing it once a week is enough and worth the try. And what else do I need?? I have got a wonderful solution to hair fall problem..:D..I am happy :D

I am loving this hair treatment for now. The effect stays for days.

This is a simple demo of how my hair looks after the mask. The advantage of this mask is, egg helps to make the hair roots strong with every use and the oil makes it shiny and healthy.

I hope you all liked the post. You can send me your feed backs on my face book page Lippaholic-Indeed or you can add me on Instagram @ tania_aktar05

Review: Revlon Cream Eyeshadow.

Hello Everyone..

Hey, I am back.Yayy..I know it feel like ages since the last time I wrote. I have been so caught up with exams and assignments. But could not keep myself anymore to start writing again..:)

Today I am going to review the Revlon Cream Eye shadows. Revlon came up with this eye shadows long time back. I do not remember but I may have bought this eyeshadow palette 2 yrs back. This were my very first cream eye shadows, and as it was from Revlon, and I was very excited to try out the product.

I own the Warm Reflections. This palette includes four colors- a shimmery white, a light silver color, a brown and dark silver shades.

                                             Swatches

My thought on the product:

When I first bought it, I was expecting decent results. What I didn't know at the time that, I will be so disappointed. The packaging is quite good with plastic black body and transparent lid. The product quantity is decent for four colors in a palette.

The colors are build able, blend able and very creamy on the lids. The shades give off nice effect on the lids, and the swatches explains the reason I loved the shades- such pretty colors.

We all know cream eye shadows are very oily, therefore needs to be set with powder eyeshadow. Usually cream eye shadows can also be used as a substitute to eye primer to enhance the look. I applied the same technique, and was happy with the initial result.
What upsets me is the after result. Within half an hour, I looked at the mirror and argg!! My eye shadows creased like crazy. I stopped using it. But gave it another chance with eye primer without setting with eye shadow, but again it failed to stand up to my expectations. So, this now list as "Miss" product in my collection.:(

Pros:
  • Good Packaging
  • Small in size therefore, user friendly
  • Beautiful colors and good payoff.
  • Very creamy on the lids.
  • Affordable price
Cons:
  • Crease a lot even after setting with powder eye shadow.
  •  The shades contains a lot of glitter and it scatters all over and outside the lid.

Rating:

Overall, I really didn't like the result the product gives. It claims to give off " amazing multicolor luminosity" which it gives but at the same time crease like there is no tomorrow!!
Do I recommend it?? No way!!! I believe there are other good products out there to try, within the same price range. ( do not remember the price of this product).
